David was born in 1983 in Hoexter, Germany, and performed his studies in physics from 2004 to 2011 at the University of Wuerzburg, Germany. During a year abroad in 2008, he obtained his masters degree with honours in physics with a focus on optoelectronics and lasers from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh. From 2009 to 2011 he was working on charge transport in organic semiconductors in the group of Prof. Dyakanov at the University of Wuerzburg, where he graduated as "Diplom-Physiker" in 2011. After his studies, he worked as a scientist in the photovoltaic industry before he joined the Extreme Light group in 2013. Currently, he pursues his PhD studies on classical and quantum effects in time-dependent media.
